The Green New Deal, a plan to transform the economy to one based on clean, renewable energy sources and other measures to adapt to the climate crisis and protect human rights, gained widespread attention in 2018. Margaret Flowers and Kevin Zeese speak with Howie Hawkins from New York, who brought the concept of the Green New Deal to the United States, about what the plan involves, where it is now and what it will take to win it. Hawkins, a long time activist, unionist and political candidate, also puts this struggle in the context of political history and the role of third parties.

Great podcast & 1-17-19 Howie phone event that you helped moderate. I have to listen again to these presentations & click on some of Howie’s 43 citations. I urged other GPCT members to listen on 1-17-19 & will follow up to urge listening to your Podcast & the 1-17-19 tape. These presentations
encourage my plan to go door to door in my small town with a leaflet & questionnaire about the Green New Deal, seeking discussion, possible support, & willingness to attend a local meeting to create an action plan & hopefully a GP chapter. Second separate issue is the CT rouge criminal enterprise (Purdue Pharma) & its $12 Billion Sackler (high charity) family. see NY Times etc articles on 1-17-19 on diabolical emails of mr Sackler pro-moting opioid Crisis & blaming the victims. This ties into Hartford Superior Court Judge ruling against CT local governments suing Purdue for citizen opioid costs in the most bizarre pro-corporation logic. That article was in Journal Inquirer newspaper on 1-10-19 on page 13.
